Things I learned (or was reminded of) this week. An ongoing series.

 

 

• "When you're going through hell, keep going."  A saying rapidly approaching cliche status, yet no less wise because of that.

 

• I am often reminded, when dealing with difficult people, that it is harder to be them than to deal with them.  This awareness, however, does not make dealing with them any less of a pain in the ass some days.  It does help me reach for compassion though...

 

• Prestige is not self esteem.

 

• Surrender is not acceptance, though you usually wind up doing the former in some way before you can begin to attempt the latter.

 

• Self esteem in not ego.

 

• Knowledge is not wisdom.  Consider:  Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.  Wisdom is choosing not to put it in a fruit salad.

That Winston Churchill quote (When going through hell....) has definitely helped me some days. I have a candle with the words "This Too Shall Pass" - followed by that quote. I think I will light it today. :)
