I was very willing and that has been a blessing. I have had sponsees who weren't willing. They weren't willing to go to any lengths. It didn't work for them or for me.

Mr. SponsorPants

I always think of that part in Bill's Story (Ch. 1 in the Big Book for the new kids) when he says "Fear sobered me for a bit." The fear and pain fade and then the willingness fades -- hence the old saying, which I'm sure you've heard, "ism" stands for "incredibly short memory." Each in our own way I know we suffer from this, if not in our sobriety then surely in some of our character defects? But you're right, Syd, if a sponsee isn't (eventually) willing to go to any lengths then ... it won't work.
