For the doormat drunks among us, the idea of acceptance can be used to run from confrontation, or to avoid speaking up. I try to accept the things I cannot change; not necessarily whatever life hands me on the first pass.
Yes, AA makes a wise suggestion that we "stop fighting everything and everyone." But if you equate working to achieve a goal or asking for what you want as fighting... well then, you might want to look at that. (At the very least, equating those things sounds a little like black-and-white thinking.)
