Written on the dry erase board on the wall by my front door:
"'Why?' is not a spiritual question. You can ask -- indeed the human mind is made to ask it -- but God is not really in the business of offering you a 'because.' Ask: 'How?'"
(It's a very small dry erase board, so forgive the phrases their choppiness please.)
The message has been up there so long -- I have no idea when I first wrote it to myself, but it was literally years ago now (I warned you I was a casual housekeeper) -- I don't even really see it anymore.
A new acquaintance was on their way out the door today and stopped to look at it. They gave me a quizzical look before wishing me a good day and heading out.
Sometimes God Stuff makes people look at you funny.
Can't say I blame them.
Doesn't mean I should shy away from it -- though intelligent discretion and an emphasis on example rather than explanation should always be my North Star.
Yes, we do get funny looks, I'll try to follow your example and set an example rather than try to explain or persuade. Thank you

hummmph. funny looks are the norm these days. And I will be putting your message on my dry erase board by my front door now. How not why -- awesome! (I am forced to have a large one because I am a very casual housekeeper too)
