I suppose that if a wildly distorted view of your physical self can be termed body dysmorphic disorder, then it might be said that alcoholics have a kind of social dysmorphic disorder, since our view of ourselves in relation to others is also often wildly distorted and flawed.
An alcoholic mind is no picnic -- there can be a lot going on there.

Ah yes, dysmorphia. I have this in body and mind since I am cross addicted (food/ alcohol), or maybe hot cross buns addicted because I can add drugs to the mix.
With the body, I will every once in a while catch a glimpse of what is really there and then the voices of "too this or too that" come back. It's like I have a nasty friend named Chuck sitting next to me, whispering nasty things. I know he is not there, but it doesn't matter-because he is. I've been given advice: "Chuck is lying to you!" Yeah, but there he is, in the chair next to me.
