A brilliant, witty observation I found online.
In great part thanks to the 12 Steps I've reached a place in my life that I don't have to figure out the plot anymore -- in fact I actively work on trying not to try. I just focus on playing my part well, not stepping on anyone else's cues or lines, and have come to believe that the plot will take care of itself -- because I'm not the playwright.
Once I got that, the rest was pretty simple.
(Sure, sure, it's perilously close to beating the metaphor into the ground, but I think I stopped just in time.)
(Barely.)
