Always Carol

I made the mistake once (I've made them all at least once!) of becoming romantically involved with someone who had 28 yrs sobriety, talked a good program. I knew that she had 13 stepped a sponsee but I didn't take that as a warning, so I had to learn the hard way.

Re: Asking for Help.
when some great AA patriot checks out after decades of service to others (which my grand-sponsor did 11 months ago) we are confronted w/ a mystery... ego/humility may be involved but never fully answers the question. Why is our lethal vulnerability not in remission while immersed in helping others, unselfishly giving experience, strength, and hope daily for 20+ years?
I can't dismiss it as simple ego.
