Recently I was whining to my friend about the "seeming distance" between me and another friend. His advice "Go have a cup of coffee. You can never underestimate the power of a cup of coffee to work these things out."

Excellent question that you brought up, 'what is my motive?' when feeling the need to get involved in someone else's stuff. A wise Alanon friend would often ask that. Also, I have to agree with the comment above . . . a cup of coffee is often powerful in these matters!
